Daytime Emmys Awards to air in June

The television academy announced that the 41st annual awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 22 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The ceremony recognizes excellent in all daytime television categories during the former calender year. The Sunday ceremony has yet to find a host or a live broadcast home. It was shown on HLN for the last two years and had home on The CW and on all three networks since the first televised ceremony in 1974.

Exciting races can be expected in several categories, especially the much talked about morning programs. "I think the competition among the top three morning programs -- Good Morning America, Today and CBS Sunday Morning -- is an exciting rivalry," NATAS Chairman Malachy Wienges told The Hollywood Reporter. "Also this year, for the first time, syndicated entertainment news shows like Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood have a chance to compete. And we're also expanding into including Spanish-language programs as long as the shows are produced and shown in the U.S."

The Creative Arts portion of the Daytime Emmys will be handed out on Friday, June 20 at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
